Chera McCabe is currently a Fitness and Wellness Graduate Assistant at Indiana University pursuing her Masters in Health Promotion. Chera has a fascinating background that started in the beautiful state of Oregon where she grew up in the small coastal town of Bandon. From a young age Chera has had a passion of leading a healthy and active lifestyle, and encouraging others to do the same.
She has a love for travel that has taken her sailing around the world visiting many different countries and cultures through the study abroad program offered by the University of Virginia, Semester at Sea. However, her heart will always reside in the college town of Eugene that is home to her alma mater, the University of Oregon Ducks where she graduated with a BA in Sociology.
More importantly Chera has a love for helping others that has led her to volunteer, helping children and their parents lead healthier lifestyles in Indiana University- Health, Bloomington Hospital under the G.O.A.L. childhood obesity prevention program, all the way across the world to work for Habitat for Humanity in Cape Town, South Africa. Chera has extensive experience in being a community and team leader in two of the most prominent collegiate recreational sports programs in the country with an emphasis in Cycling, Strength, Dance, Yoga, and Pilates.
Furthermore, she has been a pioneer and involved in organizing events like the Oregon 5K President's Challenge run, Pac 12 Fitness Challenges, and the Jill Behrman 5k Color run; all of which have involved thousands of participants. When not trying to change the world and having some down time, Chera enjoys expressive dance, a good cup of hot green tea, and cuddling with her kitten Angel.
