Carlos(Zeke) Peynetsa has been named the first American Indian Verizon Every Day Hero for his volunteer work with the American Indian Association of Illinois and the Black Hawk Performance Company

Chicago, Illinois, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) March 14, 2011 -- Carlos(Zeke) Peynetsa has been named the first American Indian Verizon Every Day Hero for his volunteer work with the American Indian Association of Illinois and the Black Hawk Performance Company

Chicago, Illinois, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) March 14, 2011 -- Peynetsa is an award winning American Indian traditional dancer. He is also the oldest American Indian head singer in Chicago and heads the drum group Been Na Un Den Nah. Through this group, Zeke and over 20 other American Indian singers and dancers,share American music, stories, languages, histories and dances with thousands of Illinois school children each year, as part of the educational programs of the American Indian Association of Illinois. Peynetsa is also an accomplished regalia creating artist, skilled in beadwork, featherwork, leatherwork, and moccasin making.

The Chicago Urban League joined with Verizon Wireless to recognize the remarkable individuals who have touched Chicago with their selfless acts of philanthropy. The efforts of a single person can impact many and our Everyday Heroes are making a real difference every day in Chicago.

Carlos (Zeke) Peynetsa is truly a Chicago Native American Hero.
