The album represents works that have never been recorded and not heard since the Eighteenth Century. The album's title piece, Al Combate, represents a celebratory ode in honor of King Charles III, and is the premiere recording of one of the most significant works written in the eighteenth-century Americas. The album highlights New Spain as a mecca of baroque and galant music through the works of Ignacio Jerusalem and Santiago Billoni, two of the most influential composers of eighteenth-century Mexico.
