Chicago Legendary Singer and Songwriter Leon Triplett Competes in Bronson-Howell Tennis Tournament

HARVEY – On August 26th former Curtis Mayfield’s Custom Records Artist Leon Triplett, one half of the 70’s group The Triplett Twins will be showcasing his athletic skills at the 19th Annual Bronson-Howell Tennis Tournament. Mr. Triplett just returned from touring the south including: Texas, Mississippi, Tennessee and Louisiana to promote his “Still Leon” album at the age of 60 he continues to consistently creating wonderful music, while teaching youth as a licensed Tennis Instructor. The 19th Annual Bronson-Howell Tennis Tournament starting Friday August 26th - Sunday August 28th at Thornton Township High School 15001 Broadway Ave., Harvey, Il.

Leon Triplett is no stranger to the world of athletics, before being drafted for the Vietnam War he had a promising career as a Minor League Baseball Player. He and brother Levi returned from the war they continued to pursue their music career as the Triplett Twins, releasing a summer hit "Get it" which was banded from the airwaves because of it's controversial chores.

Leon Triplett is a staple in the music industry, he is a classic gem to those who have followed his music since the 70’s. His recent honor comes in the rebirth of his classic hit “Pretty Please, with Sugar on Top” which will be featured in a HBO Original Film “Act of Valor” set for February 17th 2012 release. In response to this recent event Mr. Triplett is re-releasing his most recent album “Still Leon”. Many Jazz listeners have appreciated his silky smooth vocal delivery and clever writing style found on this most recent CD entitled “Still Leon”. The album is appropriately titled, as it continues to showcase the quality materials Mr. Triplett’s has grown to be known for in the areas of writing, production and performance from his years at Curtis Mayfield’s Custom Records, Stax Records as well as Twentieth Century Records.
