Chicago's youth is currently in need of positive role models in the wake of all the senseless violence among school age children in recent years. Chicago has now received national attention on this matter due to the horrific death of 16 year old Derrion Albert which was captured on video and televised nationwide. Many have spoken out about this in different media outlets, most of which will not be seen by teens who are most likely to commit these treacherous acts. With that in mind, independent music artist E.Que Soul found himself with a need to reach out to youths across the Chicagoland area in a way they would not only understand, but appreciate as well.

E.Que Soul, a vocalist known for speaking from his soul through his music, recorded the song "Laughin' All The Way To The Bank" to illustrate to the youth that success is far sweeter than violence. He has struggled himself to overpower the demons that possess some of the young people in Chicago's streets to turn to violence over petty disputes. His music has always been his outlet for his frustrations. In this case, he wanted to use his music to speak to those that generally shy away from lectures on good behavior vs. bad behavior. These kids are not likely to listen to someone preach to them that they do not identify with. He needed to approach them as someone just there to entertain. The song speaks a language they understand. It's an upbeat 'feel good' song that encourages ambition and laughter in the face of adversity. The message comes across nonchalantly and as smooth as his soulful vocals, while he keeps heads bopping and feet moving. He has planned a series of free concert performances of "Laughin" in outdoor parks stretching from Chicago's northside all the way to the southside.

The first performance was well received by the teens at Viking Park and E.Que Soul plans to recruit other Chicago music artists with similar messages to join his mission in either future performances or remix ideas. The overall goal is to provide Chicago's youth alternative choices to violence and conflict. Something as small as laughter can sometimes be the most powerful weapon. Giving teens in hopeless situations something positive to hope for, even if the ambition for success is driven purely by revenge, is just the first step in E.Que's plan to help curb teen violence in Chicago.
