Children's Literacy Program Recipient of $23,500 Grant from MGM Voice Foundation
The MGM Voice Foundation donated $23,500 to Spread the Word Nevada children's literacy organization in order to continue the Breakfast with Books program, which serves disadvantaged children.

Las Vegas, Nevada – Spread the Word Nevada, Inc., a nonprofit children’s literacy organization based in Henderson, is the recipient of a $23,500 grant from the MGM Voice Foundation. This grant will support the organization’s Breakfast with Books program, which provides monthly breakfast, books, and family literacy events to the sixteen local elementary schools adopted based on various at-risk criteria determined from the Clark County School District. To date, Spread the Word Nevada has adopted eighteen elementary schools.
The MGM Mirage has been a supporter of Spread the Word Nevada’s Breakfast with Books program since the 2005-2006 school year. The program served more than 14,000 children during this past school year.
Laurie Hartig, Founder/Program Director, of Spread the Word Nevada stated, “Breakfast with Books is an amazing program that strengthens literacy abilities and brings families together in celebration of books and reading.
