Home owners often have a clean slate when it comes to kitchen wall tiles and rather than have a set idea on which colours and designs to use, are looking for ideas and inspiration.

Smaller rooms need to be opened up and the colours you use will play an important role in this. Home owners may feel that ceramic wall tiles are boring but actually there are hundreds of different design styles that can be achieved with ceramic wall tiles and there are hundreds if not thousands of designs to choose from.

Smaller rooms can use neutral soft tones of whites and crèmes across the majority of the kitchen area and then choose vibrant and darker wall tile colours that are already consistent in the room around other areas such as the backsplash, border tiles and countertop tiles. This will ensure that the kitchen isn’t compromised with too many darker shades but ensures that the kitchen design is not bland and boring. Ceramic wall tiles in vibrant colours can be used to create an impressive backsplash design and two or three coloured wall tiles can be used together to really inject some brightness and tile style.

Larger rooms that have more natural light can use darker coloured kitchen wall tiles over a larger surface area and if you like the modern and minimalistic look and feel there are some great colour combinations. Always pick out and identify colours already in the room such as the kitchen countertops and use a shade lighter for the wall tile area. The reverse method can then be used for other areas in the home where you can have lighter coloured kitchen wall tiles on backsplash areas and as border tiles.
