But is one of these shade solutions better than another at keeping us cool? Well, it all depends on the situation and the amount of shade required at different times of the day or year.

This is an especially useful advantage over a swimming pool where you may want some shade when it is in use, but leave the pool exposed to the sun to warm the water when its not.
