Chris Rock’s Documentary “Good Hair” Ignites Fire Under the 17th Annual Golden Scissors Awards– Hair Glam: Taking Beauty to the Xtreme on December 6th in Washington, D.C.
As comedian/actor Chris Rock’s documentary “Good Hair” attempts to explain why some Black women want “Good Hair” hair icon and impresario, Glynn Jackson celebrates all hair at the 17th Annual Golden Scissors Awards – Hair Glam: Taking Beauty to the Xtreme on December 6t h in Washington, D.C. at the Washington Convention Center. Doors Open at 7pm, Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com and all Ticketmaster Locations.
This year, the Golden Scissors Awards is sponsored by Namasté Laboratories, Total Media Group (TMG), HydroVeil, Drops of Nature, Lace It by Kamelian.
“All Hair is Good Hair,” Jackson said. “Whether it be relaxed, natural, weaved, etc, as long as you feel good wearing it, it is “good hair,” Jackson continued.
The Golden Scissors Awards has a history of giving hairstylists for all over the world a platform to showcase their interpretation of what “Good Hair” is. It is this reputation the keeps the Golden Scissors Awards at helm of the hair industry. It is regarded as the premiere hair event of the year.
This year, this star studded event will also pay tribute to the “King of Pop” Michael Jackson for the contributions he made to the world as a musician and humanitarian. In special dedication to Jackson, seven humanitarian service awards will given to barbers, hairstylists, and beauty schools who have demonstrated an exemplary commitment to social change.
At the Golden Scissors Awards, this year, Gary Gardner, the creator of the Carefree Curl, Wave Nouveau, Mizani hair care products, and Optimum hair care products will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to beauty industry that celebrates the African-American woman.
“He [Gardner] is an innovator and we want to honor his contributions to the hair care industry,” Jackson said. “He has spare headed some of the most success hair care lines in the world and he [Gardner] deserves to be acknowledged for that accomplishment.”
Gardner is founder and president of Namasté Laboratories – the company responsible for the creation of the Organic Root Stimulator product line and Namasté salon systems. He is also the former president of SoftSheen Products. He became the president of SoftSheen products after his father, Edward Gardner, stepped down from the position.
The 17th Golden Scissors Awards, is dedicated to celebrating a sense of “community” and togetherness. During these challenging economic times, the 17th Annual Golden Scissors Awards will entertain, enlighten, and empower those who attend.
