Christian Author Applauds Chris Medina for Living the Lost Art of Love

February 2, 2011 Christian news in Dallas/Fort Worth,Texas, United States of America

Just in time for Valentine's Day, Medina has shown us what true love looks like, but the most telling part of the story is our society's response.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) February 2, 2011 -- Last week American Idol hopeful Chris Medina won the hearts of millions not with his dazzling vocals, but with his story of love and commitment. Two months before his scheduled wedding, his fiance was critically injured in a car accident. She suffered a traumatic brain injury. Now a year and a half later, he remains at her side.

Trudy Chun, author of Love&Ashes: A Bible Study of Love, Loss, and Ultimate Romance, points out that “the most telling part of the story is not Chris' actions, but our response.”

In a society that rhapsodizes about "love" in everything from the biggest hits in every genre of music to the hottest movies to best selling books, we really don't get what love is, she argues.

“We've redefined love to cater to our own pleasures and desires,” Chun says. “We've made it all about ME! And we've forgotten what the Bible teaches -- that love is sacrifice. It is laying down one's life for another. It is not about getting your needs fulfilled, but about giving up your own comfort for another person's good.”

“Those longing for love this Valentine's Day should take a hard look at Chris' story which demonstrates more eloquently than words that true love necessarily comes with its share of ashes,” Trudy Chun concludes.
