A fantasy novel based on the Dungeons and Dragons adventures of author Gerald L. Black with a main character that is a sentient sword which attempts to overthrow a kingdom.

Pantania Pommel holds a sword that speaks in her mind, slowly stripping her of her sanity, It constantly asks her to bathe it in blood and when she does not comply, afflicts her with horrible headaches. She recently became guild mistress in Fialscathac. She started a war with Talantas' guild run by Skrubb, a bwbach.(like a halfling) With the swords urging, she gathers her forces.

The Temple of Alinard, investigating a string of gruesome murders, sends a paladin, Renarthane and a cleric, Darius to the King with a message. They are joined by a strange assortment of characters to bring the killer to justice. Will they be victorious before the sword can have its way? or before the church's dark secret is revealed?
