Church: The Outing a Mother Can Love

“Most mothers love for their children to go to church,” said Barry Jude, New Day pastor. “They understand that no matter how hard they try that their children, whether 15 or 50, need additional support and encouragement in their lives.”

Attending church together will be even easier than usual for Dayton area residents because New Day will offer four worship services over the weekend, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Saturday night, two Sunday services and concluding on Monday night. The special Mother’s Day service will be a featured part of New Day’s Big God Weekend with Ken Freeman (http://kenfreemanministries.com/).

Freeman is an evangelist who has spoken in more than 3,000 churches, authored two books and seen more than 200,000 decisions for Christ. Last year he spoke at New Day Church, and 31 people made decisions for Christ.

Ironically, while growing up Freeman himself did not enjoy a happy home life with his mother, an alcoholic, or absentee father. Instead, his life was filled with abuse and neglect.

Despite his horrifying childhood, Freeman’s accepted Christ as a teenager, and his life transformed, releasing him from the torment of his upbringing. “Sadly, some people never know the security of having the kind of mothers to either take them to church or go with them,” Jude said. “No one understands that better than Ken. He speaks deeply into the lives of people who have experienced huge disappointments.”

Jude promises that Ken’s down-to-earth style will gratify most mothers’ expectations because he is able to effectively communicate in a way that grabs the attention of their children, especially teens. “Mothers who are concerned with preparing their children for dealing with whatever life hands them respond eagerly to Ken’s message of hope and empowerment. There’s a way to get through the toughest times in life, and Ken found it. Mothers want to know that their children can too.”

And for those who think taking their mother to church may be getting off too cheap? “Then take her to dinner afterward,” Jude said.
