FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – May 5, 2010 – Ciena Healthcare Management, the largest privately owned manager and operator of skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities in Michigan, has broken ground on a new skilled nursing community in Waterford. “Regency at Waterford,” located at the northwest corner of Telegraph and Dixie Highway, will be a spacious, 120-bed facility offering short-term and long-term care with 40 private rooms and 40 semi-private rooms.
Built at a cost of $6 million, Regency at Waterford is scheduled to open this fall. The community will feature a living area designed to care for the needs of residents requiring a short-term rehabilitation stay and contain a separate living area designed to meet the needs of traditional, long-term care geriatric residents.
“We are very pleased to have the opportunity to provide high quality care in a state-of- the-art facility in Waterford,” said Mohammad Qazi, President, Ciena Healthcare Management. “Regency at Waterford will have a homelike environment for all residents and include the latest safety features plus an easy to navigate floor plan for both residents and staff.”
Services offered at Regency at Waterford will include physical therapy and occupational therapy.
The 65,000 sq. ft. facility also will feature a kitchen/dining area, library, recreational area, lounge and a salon.
Regency at Waterford will replace the current county-owned Golden Oaks Medical Facility, located on Telegraph Rd. adjacent to the Oakland County complex. Through a successful partnership between the private and public sectors, this arrangement reduced taxpayer subsidies to Golden Oaks through Ciena Healthcare’s private management of the facility that resulted in the construction of a new, privately owned facility to benefit the surrounding community. Current residents at Golden Oaks will move to the new Regency at Waterford community.
Founded in 1998, Ciena Healthcare also manages skilled nursing facilities in Oakland County in Farmington Hills and Novi. The company plans to break ground on a new community in West Bloomfield in the near future.
“Ciena’s vision is to change the way senior residences are operated and perceived,” added Qazi. “We are offering communities featuring private rooms, fresh food preparations and 24-hour dining options.”
