SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – May 19, 2010 –Mary Hoskins, the Administrator of Hartford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Detroit, a Ciena Healthcare managed skilled nursing facility, has been recognized as a national long-term care leader in a top performing facility by the American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA). The ACHCA established the award to honor leadership excellence in the long-term care industry and showcase the best performing skilled nursing facilities in the United States.
Hoskins received the award at the ACHCA’s 44th Annual Convocation and Exposition on May 17 in Philadelphia.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Minimum Data Set (MDS) quality indicator (QM) and survey data were key criteria in determining the award. Hartford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center has demonstrated areas of excellence in these surveys, including health surveys, fire (life safety) survey and overall quality measures outlined by the organization. Hartford is a 140-bed skilled nursing facility located on Outer Drive in Detroit.
“This is a tremendous honor for Mary and a testament to her dedication to the residents at Hartford,” said Kristine Halsey, chief operating officer, Ciena Healthcare. “To be recognized by your peers as a leader in your industry shows the respect Mary has in the skilled nursing care field.”
Hoskins has been the Administrator at Hartford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center since 2004, when the community was purchased by Ciena. Currently, she is overseeing the renovation of the facility’s third floor into a state-of-the-art cardiac rehab unit, scheduled to open this summer. Other renovations underway include painting and new flooring throughout the facility.
“Hartford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center consistently ranks high in state surveys and has a long history of serving not only the residents of Detroit, but those throughout southeast Michigan,” said Morsy F. Morsy, regional director of operations, Ciena Healthcare. “Mary’s caring, stable leadership is a comfort to our residents and their families. Mary is very deserving of this recognition.”
The American College of Health Care Administrators was founded in 1962 as the professional society for long-term care administrators. The organization’s goal is the promotion of leadership excellence in long-term care and to promote professional development and educational opportunities.
