Stony Brook, NY – The Ward Melville Heritage Organization will host a jam packed day of events to celebrate their 32nd Annual Holiday Festival in Stony Brook Village on Sunday, December 4 - this year featuring the amazing Human Sphere and Acrobreakers from Cirque USA.
The Human Sphere will captivate visitors with the grace, beauty and fluid movement of the amazing artist within the “Sphere” and Acrobreakers are colorfully costumed gymnasts performing synchronized somersaults and mid-air twists at an unbelievable pace. Performances will take place throughout the Village from 1:30 pm to 5 pm.
Additional festivities beginning at Noon include the “Promenade of Trees,” an impressive array of 70 holiday trees decorated by organizations and community members which adorn the winding pathways throughout the Center; Goat on a Boat Puppet Theatre performances at 1:30 and 2:30 pm at Inner Court; a massive Model Train Display at WMHO’s Educational & Cultural Center from Noon to 4 pm (also open to the public on December 3, 17 and 18); holiday carolers throughout the day at the Stony Brook Post office and WALK 97.5 with “Walkie Bear” at Inner Court starting at 1 pm. Wiggs Opticians will also have their popular holiday windows on display now throughout the holiday season. One of the highlights of WMHO’s Festival for three decades is of course Santa Claus. He arrives at 2 pm this year aboard an antique fire truck to hear children’s wishes under the portico of the historic Stony Brook Post Office until 4 pm. He returns at 5:30 pm aboard a 3,000 light float, courtesy of the Stony Brook Fire Department, to throw the switch and light the holiday tree at 5:30 pm.
