Classical Connect Podcasts Introduce the Music and Personalities of Outstandingly Gifted Young Classical Composers and Performers
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) March 17, 2010 --
One of Classical Connect’s goals is to introduce young talented classical musicians to the broadest possible audience around the world. The in-depth interviews, which combine conversation and samples of music, serve this purpose. All interviews are conducted by the London-based producer and documentary-maker Jon Tolansky . Mr. Tolansky produced classical music-related documentaries for the BBC, WQXR and WFMT, among others. Interviews are presented on Classical Connect’s site (http://www.classicalconnect.com) in the form of podcasts.
The three latest podcasts complete the first series produced by Classical Connect. The young violinist Joanna Marie Frankel , a recipient of the 2007 Career Grant from the Rachel Elizabeth Barton Foundation, talks about her early studies, her pedagogue Jascha Brodski, and her perspective on performing works of Beethoven. Joe Hallman , a young Philadelphia-based composer, discusses his new work, and also his collaboration with the cellist Alisa Weilerstein and other prominent musicians and orchestras. Finally, Amit Peled , the 35-year-old Israeli-born cellist, talks about his childhood in a kibbutz and a string of remarkable teachers, from Uri Vardi in Israel to Bernard Greenhouse and Laurence Lesser in the US and Boris Pergamenschikov in Berlin.
Together with the initial three interviews with the pianist Alon Goldstein, composer and conductor Leanna Primiani, and saxophonist Ashu, these podcasts form a wonderful series, which in a highly entertaining format present an insider’s view of the current state of classical music.
In the near future Classical Connect plans to embark on a new series of interview with some of the more than 400 talented performers and composers whose music is featured on the web site, http://www.classicalconnect.com
