The Cleveland Browns, extending their quarterback arsenal, have signed Jarrett Brown. Breaking the news on his Twitter account (does anyone not tweet?), the former quarterback for the West Virginia Mountaineers' was excited to say the least.
"I got some exciting news for you guys...let me catch my breath!!!--I'm officially a Brown!"
Now that Brown is officially a Brown--kinda catchy--one must wonder about the future of Seneca Wallace as a Browns quarterback. Wallace was quick to voice his dis-pleasure about his playing time, leading one to believe that Wallace may have felt coming to Cleveland would allow him to become a starter.
Seneca Wallace has played out his contract and becomes a free agent this season, could the signing of Brown, who is considered to have a "Rocket-arm", be a sign that Wallace is no longer wanted in Cleveland?
As a Mountaineer, Brown at 6'3, and 224 pounds played in 38 games. His stats--63.7% completion rate, 16 touchdowns along with 2,983 yards is impressive--in a run first offense.
The welcome and surprising play of rookie quarterback Colt McCoy has pleased team president Mike Holmgren. While searching for a new Cleveland head coach, Holmgren will definitely have the development of his young quarterback in mind, possible hiring a coach with a strong offensive background.
Bringing in another young quarterback in Jarrett Brown, and possibly developing him as a back-up capable of performing the "Wildcat"---the 2011 may be exciting and have many of us trying to "catch our breath"
