Fault phenomenon: Units of a compatible, with no-name motherboard, chipset is Intel810, CPU as a Celeron 733MHz, not often used. Recently I reinstall the system, using a few days later, the phenomenon of sudden can not boot: Press the Power button chassis, drive, hard drive indicator is lit, can not drive out the warehouse, to read the disk drive does not appear sound, display a black screen , and the power button can not turn off the power, unplug the power plug must be shut down.
Troubleshooting: According to my past experience, leading to the blank screen, there are three general reasons: Chassis power supply failure, motherboard failure, CPU problems. So I first measure the output voltage, ± 5V and ± 12V are normal, the power will be inadequate? Remove the computer's power will be put on the other are unable to resolve the problem.
I do not have the right motherboard and CPU can be used for replacement. Then turn off again, the power supply fan, CPU fan whirring turning, looking nothing happened the screen, I think what the point of failure will be where? After a few minutes, the screen suddenly lit up, the machine began to self-test, the result is wrong: CMOS Checksum Error (CMOS checksum error). Enter the CMOS settings and found that the changes have become the default settings, I re-set after self-test through the normal, smooth entry into the operating system, CPU seems to be no problem. Through the system shuts down normally, then boot off, still the above-mentioned phenomenon. It seems the problem must be out on the motherboard. CMOS setup can not be saved, then the CMOS battery may have expired. Remove the battery a measured voltage only 0.9V, well below the nominal value of 3V.
I have seen CMOS battery failure before the failure, generally only appear "CMOS Checksum Error Report", set the loss, etc., but does not lead to a black screen phenomenon ah. I would first replace the battery then. For a new battery, I reset the CMOS, trial and error, failure actually completely ruled out! Seems CMOS battery failure can also cause black screen, I hope I can give you the troubleshooting experience encountered the phenomenon of black friends to bring some experience .
