FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) November 22, 2009 --
CoachDeck LLC (www.coachdeck.com) announced that Donna Miller of Stroud Soccer in Stroud, OK was the grand prize winner for the company’s first annual CoachDeck Volunteer Coach of the Year Award.
Nominations were sent in from all over the United States. CoachDeck employees read each one and voted on the winning submission. Criteria used in judging included community involvement, accomplishments, leadership, amount of time devoted to their organization and being an example of sportsmanship and integrity to youth in the community. The activities of all the individuals considered were of a purely volunteer nature.
“Our staff really enjoyed reading the submissions and it reminded us how many good people there are out there making a difference in their communities”, said Brian Gotta, President of CoachDeck.
Donna was nominated by Alvin Roe, who serves on the board of the Stroud Soccer Association. Alvin wrote, “Donna has been involved in soccer for the past 12 years as a coach, assistant coach, team parent, secretary and is, at the present time, treasurer for one of the biggest soccer clubs in the state - always in a volunteer capacity. For the past few seasons she has coached a minimum of two teams as well as helping the beginning coaches. She is exceptional with the children and through her coaching they have grown to be not only good soccer players but good citizens as well. She instills in them the art of soccer as well as sportsmanship, fair play and community involvement. She is well-liked by the players, parents and the community.
“In addition Donna is a full time mother, an employee at a local bank, a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and a Sunday school teacher. This last year Donna approached the community with the possibility of creating the Stroud Soccer Association for the purpose of giving the children in our rural community an alternative to the local sports that required a child to excel in a sport to be included. She showed the community how soccer was a "sport for all children" regardless of size and/or ability. With the aid of a few other volunteers she has seen this come to fruition. Before this, children were required to travel around 50 miles to the nearest soccer club. Donna has, since it's beginning, been President for the Association. She has become a certified referee and can officiate at matches anywhere within the state.
“As you can see, Donna not only is a coach but was very instrumental is providing the children with an opportunity to participate in a sports program but also a role model to the children and the community as a whole.”
For winning the grand prize, Donna will receive a set of cleat covers from Cleatskins for the U12 team she coaches, a KickSpeed Radar training device from SportsSensors, a trophy from Crown Awards and, of course, a set of CoachDecks for all of the coaches in her association.
