In the case with Tana and Jim, their auto body business was destroyed by a tornado that hit their
shop directly on April 16, 2011. That was an experience that they will never forget. As their
insurance agent, I will never forget as well, in seeing all that they built over the years completely
demolished and the expressions on both of their faces with questions on what to do next.

Immediately after the shop was hit, Jim gathered all his resources together, made the necessary

calls, and organized an agenda of what needed to get done in order to secure his personal
property, the personal property of others, and making sure there were not additional dangers to
others. Jim and his employees moved very quickly on this and were very proactive in preventing
any further damages. Jim and I had previous discussions about his insurance coverages and what
he needed to do after a loss, so he was right on with all his organizing.

Now Coats Auto Body has relocated to a temporary location in Garner, NC, until his new shop
gets rebuilt, which will most likely take about six-eight months. But the perseverance and

determination by both Tana and Jim, has made this a story that is remarkable in how they
immediately bounced back after such a horrific loss.

There is a lesson to be learned here if you ever have a similar situation happen to you and your
business. You must have the will to fight back for what you built, what you believe in, and be
determined to come back even stronger! I’ve learned a lot from how this business rose to the
occasion and truly made a difference not only in my life, but in many others as well.

I’m so fortunate to have Jim and Tana as my friends and clients, knowing that they took the right

steps to recover from this disaster.
