The Founder and Inventor of The Joi Doll has such a humble beginning how its company started. Here's a short version of its birth and how a dream to help children whether physically healthy or ill became a reality for this phenomenal young lady. Ms. Russell as a young child growing up with Turner Syndrome faced many challenges. Even in the face of adversity since the age of three years old, Ms. Russell has been a positive influence to all her peers. She is one who is looked upon for encouragement, advice or simply lending a helping hand to children, teens and adults. Ms. Russell throughout her life has been one whose always been actively involved in her school, church, and community by doing many things; from being the evening's motivational speaker to organizing the local high school bake sale, or simply a friend encouraging those on her college campus. So at the age of twenty-four with the help of her mother, Ms. Russell created The Joi Doll to help encourage and show all little girls that no matter what you may face in life you can always arise above the obstacles and become a positive successful person.

The word is out!!! People are standing in line to receive their Joi Doll for Christmas presents to little girls. In moments of quietness, which is very seldom for Ms. Russell due to a hectic schedule, confesses "Who would've ever thought having been so ill at one time in my life, astounding doctors and the medical professionals at Comer Hospital, that I would years later give back to that same Institution that saved my life and are saving the lives of children today?" Latrece's mother, Ms. Victoria Lynn Gatling, remembers all too well her daughter's struggle to survive and shares "In knowing first hand what a parent goes through with an ill child as Latrece has, I've watched my daughter overcome many obstacles and physical challenges time after time over the past 24 years and it's remarkable how strong she's become as a young lady and a role model touching the lives of many." Ms. Gatling went on to say "I couldn't be more honored to be Latrece's partner and even prouder to be her Mom." Ms. Russell is also known for inventing positive "Internet Video" family games and is presently working on boy-figures that speak positive messages encouraging our sons.
