The office opened April 30, 2010. Although the Colorado private investigations firm already has several offices located in Denver, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Breckenridge, Aurora, Windsor, the Vail Valley, and Glenwood Springs, Colorado , the owner Sean Moncalieri believes the market needs to be expanded into the area of Aspen, Colorado. Sean Moncalieri, Chief Investigator and Chief Executive Officer of the private investigations company, said expanding into an unknown production area at times brings pleasant surprises. Mr. Moncalieri wanted to inform Aspen residents and business clients through a press release that they can now choose from a more diverse list of private investigators rather than having a limited choice on just one or two investigators located in town. “I’m not saying the other investigators are not good at their job, I believe we can offer clients more freedom to choose from a varied list of investigative options that are needed in Aspen without having to go outside the comfort of Aspen. We offer many specialties and we're not only available for work in the State of Colorado, but are also connected with our national firm. It's one big family!”

Sean Moncalieri , 35, a Colorado transplant from New York, started Colorado Special Investigations, Inc. in 2006 after retiring after 14 years of law enforcement and duties with the military. Moncalieri was ready to follow his dream and desired to manage his own business. “I never thought I would eventually own my own business especially an investigations firm, let alone two investigation firms! This is the best job that I’ve ever had that has given me many rewards over the years."

In May 2008, Moncalieri made the move to formally separate the Colorado Special Investigations image away from his national company National Security Investigative Service, Ltd. He wanted to focus entirely on the Colorado Private Investigators market for Colorado clients as a separate entity. He said he has been working on new business strategies since day one and wants to keep on developing new business ideas in an already competitive market. He went on to say his companies have been like “riding on a roller coaster” with a down turn in service requests since the recession began; but an increase in business will steadily rise to the levels it once was before the 3rd Quarter of 2008.

On May 5th, Mr. Moncalieri acquired two new business trade names that recently have become available. He applied and attained the d/b/a names of Professional Process Servers of Colorado and Attorney Support Servers for Colorado Special Investigations. He plans to capitalize on the already professional image of CSI by seeking out clients who understand the market or who are appealed more by a name that states they are a service support company of process servers.

Moncalieri wants to get more involved in lobbying Colorado legislatures to introduce a bill requiring PI’s to be licensed by a State regulatory agency. “We have experienced and legitimate investigators earning an honest living using their training and experience as a means of helping those who need help from professionals. Whereas, a fly-by-night wanna-be who thinks watching CSI is cool and then read a book and ‘poof’ are now automatically a PI…it’s ridiculous we have hair dressers who are mandated to be licensed, but not for PI’s who are working on cases that are criminal or civil in nature."
