FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) February 19, 2012 --
The concept that a relationship between astronomical phenomena and events in the human world exists.
In the West, Western astrology is most often based mainly upon the construction of a system of horoscopes. This horoscope claims to predict aspects of an individual's personality or life history based on the movements and relative positions of the sun, moon, and other planetary objects at the time of their birth. These are then analyzed by their aspects (angles) relative to one another which are usually considered by their placement in houses, and their movement through the zodiac signs.
Chinese astrology, which uses the principles of yin and yang and concepts that are not found in Western astrology such as the wu xing teachings, the 10 Celestial stems, the 12 Earthly Branches, and shichen, a form of timekeeping used for religious purposes, uses horoscopes which have their basis on the symbolism of the Chinese zodiac signs, which is a system of elements and animals associated with each year according to a sexagenary cycle.
In Chinese astrology, it is believed that the zodiac sign of twelve animal signs is said to symbolize twelve different personality types. This is not derived from divisions of the ecliptic as in Western astrology, but rather symbolizes the annual instead than monthly themes, being based on cycles of years, lunar months, and two-hour periods of the day or the shichen.
The zodiac traditionally begins with the sign of the Rat, and the cycle proceeds through 11 other animals signs: the Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig.
