Come to the Relay For Life Kickoff Party at Sunlake High School on Oct. 14th, 2010 To Support The American Cancer Society.

The American Cancer Society invites individuals and groups who want to honor cancer survivors (anyone who has ever been diagnosed with cancer) and caregivers, or pay tribute to those who have lost their battle with cancer to join the Relay For Life of Sunlake High School. Our kick off is scheduled for October 14th, 2010 at 6:30pm at Sunlake High School’s Cafeteria. But what is the Relay For Life Kickoff? The Relay For Life Kickoff rally is where anyone – families, caregivers, cancer survivors, schools, companies, etc. – get together to begin and learn more about Relay For Life activities for 2011. Last year we raised over $41,000 and with your support we know we can exceed that! Teams are currently being formed and sponsors are still needed. This year’s theme is, “Around the World in 18 hours,” so come celebrate with us on our amazing journey of hope!

What is the American Cancer Society Relay For Life? It’s an overnight community celebration where individuals and teams camp out, barbecue, dance, and take turns walking around a track relay style to raise funds, while celebrating the lives of those who have had cancer, remembering those lost, and fighting back against a disease that takes too much. At nightfall, participants light hundreds of luminaria around the track in a moving ceremony to honor cancer survivors as well as friends and family members lost to the disease. The American Cancer Society Relay For Life represents hope that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that those who face cancer will be supported, and that one day cancer will be eliminated.
