Atlanta, Georgia, February 14, 2013 - An anonymous elder statesman was once quoted saying "It is hard but not impossible to aspire to become something you've never seen." The statement was in reference to the over abundance of negative images so many of today's young Black males see on a daily basis in their neighborhoods, in the media and even in the music they listen to, instead of positive strong male role models and/or father-figures who look like them. Actor/comedian and TV host Jonathan Slocumb is a firm believer in planting positive seeds into the minds of today's youth in order to inspire them to become something greater than even they could imagine. The Atlanta native recently inked an endorsement deal to become the first national spokesman for Solo Noir - a complete line of grooming products for men of color featuring 100% organic 2-in-1 grooming products. Slocumb is most excited about partnering up with Solo Noir to empower young Black men at his speaking engagements and community work at high schools, HBCUs and other colleges around the country. He will talk to them about the importance of taking pride in how they physically present themselves, i.e. dressing for success, keeping their hands, face and skin well groomed and maintaining positive body language and a positive mindset.

"My goal is to empower young Black men to dress for success and embrace taking care of their skin as a normal part of their daily grooming habits just like brushing their teeth. The first thing potential employers see when you meet them is your skin, teeth, hands and not just the clothes you wear" says Slocumb who attended a Historically Black College - Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama. Like Slocumb, the CEO of Solo Noir, Andrea Polk, also attended a HBCU and received both her undergraduate and post-graduate degrees from Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee. "We are very proud that as our first national spokesman Jonathan is dedicated to the community. We look forward to this joint venture of empowering men on their journey of healthy skin care" says Solo Noir CEO Andrea Polk. Ironically the Los Angeles resident will be headlining comedy shows at Jazz and Jokes in Nashville, Tennessee from Thursday, February 21st through Saturday, February 23rd. Tickets are available at 615-242-5653 or at www.JazzandJokes.com. Slocumb currently hosts the TV series "Groundbreaking Comedy" on Tuesday nights at 8:00pm EST on Magic Johnson's new ASPiRE TV network.
