Comfort Suites Rapid City: the prime place to stay after Broadway plays, concerts

RAPID CITY, S.D. “ This spring, Rapid City's Rushmore Plaza Civic Center will bring œHooray for Hollywood, œCeltic Women, and American Idol alum Chris Daughtry to Rapid City for its concert series.

œHooray for Hollywood, a song first featured in the 1937 movie œHollywood Hotel, has become the staple soundtrack for the Academy Awards ceremony held in Los Angeles. The song references the American movie industry and satirizes the illusory desire of many people to become famous actors and actresses. The Broadway song medley will be showcased in Rapid City on Feb. 22 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The concert Daughtry and 3 Doors Down features œAmerican Idol alum and rocker Chris Daughtry, which will be held March 2 at 7 p.m. at the Barnett Arena. Daughtry came in fourth place on the fifth season of œAmerican Idol. Daughtry's self-titled album became the fastest selling debut rock album in Nielsen Soundscan history, selling more than 1 million copies after just five weeks.

The Broadway play œCeltic Women will be performed June 8 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The ensemble is an all-female Irish musical ensemble, influenced by acts such as Riverdance and Enya.
