Community Activist and Entrepreneur Keishorne Scott Receives International Men’s Day Award

(Free-Press-Release.com) December 26, 2010 -- BROOKLYN, NEW YORK – November 2010 – Community Activist and Entrepreneur Keishorne Scott was presented the prestigious International Men’s Day Award on November 19 at the Black Spectrum theatre in Queens, New York. The event was hosted by Harold S. Reed, Jr., motivational speaker, author & certified professional life coach.

The theme celebrated this year was “Our Children, Our Future.” With an emphasis on the positive effects that every day, working class men have in children’s lives, IMD highlights community members that personify their mission of improving gender relations and equality. Similar in scope to Keishorne Scott’s own Be Positive Campaign which encourages positive thoughts and behaviors, it is no surprise the organization would applaud Mr. Scott for his labor in the community. Humbled and receptive of the invitation and award, these types of events always provide excitement and motivation for Mr. Scott to continue his mission.

Be Positive Campaign’s manifold mission involving the youth and community is what earned Keishorne Scott’s nomination for the award, as he travels the USA to promote his message of love, harmony, and unity. He was presented the award because of the positive contributions he has made to society, community, family, marriage, child care, and the environment. The ceremony was organized by Cathleen Williams, an attorney and RN, with a BSN from the University of Delaware, a Jurisprudence Doctor from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, and a Masters in Health Law from Seton Hall University.
Mr. Scott’s acceptance of this award is a tradition created by International Men’s Day founder Dr Jerome Teelucksingh in Trinidad and Tobago in 1999. In an effort to bring men’s positive contributions to society center stage as well as jolt others to action, November 19th has always been commemorated in many ways including award ceremonies, peaceful marches and displays, and public seminars. Mr. Scott joins the ranks of those recognized for what they bring to a society that hungers for leadership, action, and positive change.
