FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) February 15, 2010 --
A blood drive has been scheduled for February 17, 2010 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The King’s Academy. Participation in this worthwhile program with Community Blood Centers of South Florida (CBCSF) is highly encouraged. This is just another example of how The King’s Academy continues to demonstrate community responsibility. This blood drive is not just a chance to be part of the community, but a chance for participants to help save the lives of friends and neighbors in South Florida.
There is a constant need for blood in South Florida. Approximately 600 pints of blood are needed every day by patients in more than 47 hospitals and 136 healthcare facilities that are served by CBCSF.
Giving blood is a simple process. It begins with a brief medical history, followed by a free mini-physical including blood pressure, pulse, temperature and iron level check. You can join the National Marrow Donor Program if you are at least 18 years old. You can find out your blood type and cholesterol level 5 - 7 days after donating blood. Many medications and medical conditions are acceptable. Everything is confidential.
Students age 16 and older are eligible to donate with a signed permission slip. Permission slips can be obtained from the front office, the high school office, or in the cafeteria at The King’s Academy. The permission slips may be returned directly to Debbie Guerrant (Key Club Faculty Advisor), or they may be placed in the drop boxes located in each of the above locations.
Parents and other adult family members are also encouraged to participate. Pink pledge forms will be available in the front office and high school office if you wish to sign up in advance, or you may email Debbie at d.guerrant@tka.net with your name, phone number, and the time of day you plan to arrive. If you cannot schedule in advance, you may just show up on the day of the drive at your convenience anytime between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Please enter through the front reception area, and then go to the lobby of the Sports and Fine Arts Center where the blood drive will be held.
