Community Job Club provides unemployed free job search assistance

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) May 18, 2011 -- The U.S. Labor Secretary, Hilda L. Solis and the Department of Labor's Center for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships will host a webcast roundtable event on the important role of job clubs in getting Americans back to work. Job Club programs based at churches, other religious institutions, community organizations and more recently online, offer an opportunity for unemployed individuals to come together and share job search techniques and professional networks, learn about careers and programs, and provide peer support.

The Community Job of Stow meets on the second and fourth Thursday each month at Stow Community United Church of Christ located at 1567 Pilgrim Dr., Stow, OH 44224. Founded by Diana Miller, a leader in the career industry, Diana provides members at no-charge a wealth of information derived from her extensive experience as a career management consultant, job search strategist and professional resume writer. Along with volunteers from the Stow Community United Church of Christ and other members of the community, their sole purpose is helping those interested in acquiring or honing job search skills.

Ms. Miller is the sole representative for job clubs based in the state of Ohio, and one of ten nationally to participate in this project.

The roundtable webcast will take place on Tuesday, May 24th from 1:30-3pm eastern time. To view live, go to http://www.dol.gov/dol/media/webcast/live/

The Department of Labor’s Center for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships is launching a new project to connect job clubs to each other. Through a Workforce3One.org Community of Practice, they can share best practices, tools, and resources; and also facilitate partnerships between job clubs and the workforce investment system, including One-Stop Career Centers.
