Competitiveness Boost for Regional Management Consultants

January 28, 2012

Internationally Recognized Course Offers Consultancy Skills Enhancement

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) January 28, 2012 -- Management consultants from Jamaica and the region will be able to improve global competitiveness, access new business opportunities and enhance their client communication and networking skills when the internationally recognized Principles of Management Consultancy course comes to Jamaica. The course, to be held from 7-9 February 2012 at the University College of the Caribbean (UCC) Campus in Kingston, Jamaica, is facilitated by the Caribbean Institute of Certified Management Consultants (CICMC) in collaboration with UCC and Strong’s Supreme Service Inc. (3Si).

Immediate past president of the CICMC and chairman and chief executive officer of the 3Si Group Dennis Strong CMC will deliver the course. 3Si is CICMC’s designated provider of the Principles course; a required component of the CMC (Certified Management Consultant) certification process.

"This course provides an essential foundation for regional management consultants," says Mr Strong. "Developed and quality assured by the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes (ICMCI), CMC is now the most widely recognised international standard and qualification for individual management consultants worldwide, respected as a mark of excellence. That's why this course provides an essential foundation for regional management consultants."

“These workshops prepare regional consultants to be able to compete more effectively both within the CSME and globally,” adds Brenda Pope, current president of CICMC and partner with KPMG, Barbados. “The CMC is quickly becoming a necessary qualification for anyone wishing to do business with major government and private sector organisations. More than 90 percent of the consulting fees generated within the Caribbean end up being paid to consultants who are not from the region. With an increasing base of CMCs in our own backyards, we will be able to stem the flow of these dollars away from our shores.”
The three day Principles of Management Consultancy course will cover:
• Day 1: Introduction to the Management Consulting Industry and Profession
• Day 2: Management Consulting Skills, Methods and Applied Concepts
• Day 3: Processes of Consulting / The CICMC Certification Process

The course will help management consultants to:
• Focus on the interpersonal skills needed to establish and maintain relationships with clients and associates
• Identify and use appropriate management consulting models, tools and techniques

• Explore the types of diagnosis, research and analysis that occur in the management consulting process
• Explore the implications for various management consulting disciplines
• Find out why management consultants are hired
• Examine the methods consultants use to obtain business
• Give and receive management consulting services via live case scenarios and their personal profiles
• Obtain guidance on how to stay abreast of industry trends and evolving standards and practices
• Recognize the stages in the management consulting process and how they apply
• Discover how to apply change management principles

• Network with other consulting colleagues and find out how to collaborate to compete.
• Contract for management consulting services

The price of the course is US$900 for members and US$1300 for non-members. This course has run throughout the Caribbean and feedback has been excellent. According to Arleigh Marshall of Deloitte Consulting, the course "has directly impacted on how I interact with clients, approach meetings and has added structure the consultative process. A number of great network opportunities came out of the course and it has encouraged me to look for individuals who have completed this training to partner with on any future projects. I strongly recommend this course for any individual who wants to raise the bar on their consulting practice."

The Principles of Management Consultancy course will also run in Barbados (February 21-23), Bahamas (March 6-8) and Trinidad (March 27-29).
