Congressional Candidate John Delaney Statement on Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday
This morning, John Delaney, Congressional candidate in the 6th District of Maryland, attended the 36th Annual Alpha Phi Alpha Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Breakfast in North Bethesda.
“Today, as we pause to remember the struggle and sacrifice of Dr. King and other civil rights leaders, we should also reconfirm our commitment to the ideals of equality and justice,” said Delaney. “I was honored to meet with community leaders and inspired by the important work still being done each day.”
“Our task as public servants is to insure that his vision is not lost and to promote policies that help that all Americans have an opportunity to succeed.”
“Dr. King understood that poverty was a source of misery for millions. In these dark economic times, we must work to give all Americans the opportunity to have a good job, to provide for their family, and to be able to share in the American Dream.”
