Consecutive Tragedies Happened in Mining Industry

2009's Hegang colliery Explosion in Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province is one of the worst disasters in recent years.
108 coal mine workers were killed in the tragedy. Half a year later, 6 people responsible including the general manager of the company are detained.
Three months later a coal mine in Central China's Dongxing, Hunan Province catches fire. 25 workers are killed in the following explosion. Shortly after the incident, a vice mayor responsible is dismissed.
Only 13 days after that, water rushed into an coal mine under construction in North China's Wangjialing, Shanxi Province. 108 people were lifted out of harm's way, 153 others were trapped in the shaft. Luckily, after an unbelievable 179 hours, 115 were rescued. Unfortunately 38 people perished in the accident. Nine people responsible were arrested.
June 19th, an explosion occurred in Xingdong Coal Mine again in Central China's Henan Province. 49 workers were killed. Those involved in the accident are under investigation.
The State Council approved investigative reports on three major mining accidents the past year. 105 suspects were sent to court. Another 71 people involved will be punished.
Higher coal productivity also increases the possibility of potential mining disasters(. As a result the government is adopting a series of tough measures to punish those responsible for any mining mishaps.
