Cooking with Egg—starring Erik Berlin as Chef Egg—has enjoyed national acclaim from the New York International Independent Video and Film Festival and the Indie Food Channel Competition. Berlin has also appeared on several local and regional television and radio shows, as well as Planet Green’s “Emeril Green with Chef Emeril Legasse.”

Berlin believes that by teaching younger people proper cooking techniques that can be applied to quick and fun-to-make dishes, meals and snacks, he can help alleviate their dependence on pre-packaged, processed foods that contribute to many of increasingly prevalent health issues the U.S. faces.

About Chef Egg

Chef Erik "Egg" Berlin is a Maryland-based private chef, culinary instructor and food demonstration specialist.

Egg’s passion for cooking began developing at an early age via shows like Julia Child, The Frugal Gourmet, and The Cajun Cook - Justin Wilson. Berlin took cooking classes in middle school and began exercising his talents in the field at age 14 when he taught fellow Merriweather Post Pavilion employees how to cook pizza and easy snack bar food at the legendary music venue in Columbia.

Two years later he began working in his first real fine dining restaurant kitchen, gaining valuable understanding of the food business by working in various capacities of the hospitality industry. Always on the move, Berlin simultaneously worked several jobs at once, including bussing and waiting tables, prepping, line cooking, bartending, catering, playing music and teaching others.

At age 17, Berlin began his formal culinary training at Anne Arundel Community College, later transferring to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES). At UMES, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management and developed the friendships and connections that led him into television production. These experiences led into the development of “Cooking with Egg,” which on a public access channels in Salisbury, Maryland, throughout Howard County.

Egg has also served as the private chef for Washington Redskins’ owner Daniel Snyder, cooking meals for his business associates and family, offering him the invaluable opportunity to polish his food presentation skills. His time as a substitute teacher afforded him the opportunity to interact with young adults, sharpen his communication, planning and preparation skills which form the basis of Cooking with Egg.

Berlin also serves as Whole Foods Market’s primary culinary instructor in the local area, while also creating unique culinary productions for leading food brands with his company Biologic Media.
