Of all the things you can do while visiting Costa Rica, spending a night in the jungle will be one the most memorable. Very few experiences can compare with camping overnight, deep in an old growth forest at Osa Mountain Village Resort. Getting away from the lights of the city where nature has been left untouched for millions of years will leave you breathless and with stories to tell for many years to come. It’s the experience you are looking for when you tour Costa Rica.
The jungle camping tour includes aspects of all the other walking tours.
Without checking out of your hotel room you can leave your belongs secure and enjoy a night in the jungle in a way very few people ever get the chance to experience it. Many of the most interesting animals in the Costarican jungle are nocturnal and are sleeping or hidden away during daylight hours and never seen by most visitors to the country.

Your Osa Mountain “Survivor” experience will begin in the late afternoon about two hours before sundown, not interfering with any daytime adventure activities you have planned for you trip. The adventure begins with a hike into our 770+ acre old growth forest. The hike will lead to an area we have set up for camping near one of the magnificent waterfalls on our private reserve property.
Once we arrive at our camping area you can take a dip in the natural swimming hole at the base of the waterfall if you like to freshen up before dinner is served. After dinner when the darkness of the jungle has set upon us you will be taken on another easy hike with flash lights along a well groomed trail to experience the nocturnal night life. The jungle is crawling with all kinds of interesting creatures that come alive only at night.

Upon returning to our campsite you will enjoy a campfire before finally retiring to one of our yurt-dome sleeping tents. Don’t be surprised if you are woken in the wee hours of the morning by howler monkeys or some early birds that are catching their worms or other insects for breakfast. The early hours of the morning in the jungle before most humans get up is another time where the wildlife is at it’s most active.
After waking up you’ll have a few minutes to take another dip in the river before we serve a quick breakfast of native fruits and begin our leisurely walk out of the jungle keeping our eyes peeled for some of the amazing birds that Costa Rica is so well known for. We should reach our exit point at about 9:00 am allowing you to experience any one of the other amazing adventures offered at Osa Mountain Village or the surrounding area.
