A cottage break in Scotland can be a memorable gift for loved ones and Little Briar in Lochearnhead has a lot to offer given its central location, stunning landscape and proximity to Loch Earn in Perthshire.
Elevated on the 2 acre site of a 300 year old thatched cottage, Little Briar boasts stunning views over Loch Earn towards Edinample Castle and Ben Vorlich. Once the site of ancient crofting land in the name of McGregor (followed by the Duke of Breadalbane and two centuries of McLarens) the grounds are now lovingly cared for by Fraser and Kim Proven. The Scottish couple embrace holiday letting as a way of life having retired from careers including property management and consumer marketing. The Provens will greet you on arrival and make every effort to ensure you of a comfortable and memorable break. Guests are invited to peek inside their 300 year old thatched cottage to hear stories of previous inhabitants and view the cruck timber ceiling in the byre(lounge). They are more than happy to let you experience their hot tub too. You only have to ask.
The property lies 200 metres from two hotels with a water sports centre, shop and post office in the village. Briar Cottages enjoys a 250ft stretch of garden with a jetty, slipway and three mooring buoys on Loch Earn. Guests can use the facilities including a summer house and picnic tables while enjoying intermittent activity from visiting ospreys, the resident sea-plane, water skiers and fishermen. Trout fishing is free from the garden during 15th March to 6th October. Fishing tackle can be hired in the Post Office with permits for those who want to fish neighbouring lochs.
The south facing cottage offers a compact kitchen dining and lounge area, a bathroom with an electric shower, Sky TV, WiFi, 1 double and 1 twin room sleeping 2-4 and pets are welcome. The spacious gardens are landscaped offering a BBQ, wooden decking, picnic tables and loungers. Each seasons landscape is as stunning as the last whether you are fishing, sailing, walking the dog around the grounds, sunbathing, picking the blackcurrants and cherries beside the cottage or sledging in the snow from the hill in the paddock.
Lochearnhead is central within Scotland where the A84 and A85 meet, making it the perfect base from which to visit tourist towns and attractions in every direction. There are over 70 golf courses in Perthshire and Stirlingshire with St Fillans and Killin Golf clubs only 6 and 7 miles away respectively. They are amongst the most picturesque clubs in the country and visitors are made very welcome.
Outdoor, history, nature and wildlife enthusiasts adore the terrain or if you simply want to unwind and spend time with loved ones you are destined to enjoy the experience from the time that you set foot on the grounds.
