CREATE StudioLounge | The Fabric Fairy | Grand Opening Sewing Extravaganza

Joining a growing trend in metropolitan areas across the United States, CREATE StudioLounge offers Madison’s creative community a place to sew, craft, take classes, exchange ideas, display their work, and more. It will also feature programming, parties, and classes for children, and a children’s play area. The StudioLounge shares a building at 5353 Maly Road in Sun Prairie with its sister business, The Fabric Fairy, a fabric and craft supply store specializing in fun, cutting edge items not commonly found in local fabric stores. Both The Fabric Fairy and CREATE opened their doors to the Madison area and surrounding communities on October 1st. A grand opening is planned for October 24th. CREATE fills a long standing void in the area for a central community resource center for sewists and crafters, and couldn’t come at a better time. “The handmade arts have seen an enormous rise in popularity in recent years,” said Caroline Geraci, owner of the new lounge. “Everyone wants to be unique, and there is no more unique of a product than the one you make yourself. In addition, in these stressful economic times, there is an increasing appreciation for the simple pleasure of the making experience, and the emotional gratification that comes from the creative journey.”

Geraci founded The Fabric Fairy in 2006 as an online fabric source (www.thefabricfairy.com) for the children’s, teen and young adult markets. The store quickly gained attention as a go‐to spot for fun , trendy, and fashion forward fabrics, and has been featured at the newsstand in national sewing magazines.
