Criteria for Selecting Scuba Watches

Many people buy scuba watches simply because they look so
good or rugged or sporty. Everyone has their reasons for buying
a scuba watch and the reason is not alwasy because the watch
will be used for it's intention, scuba diving.

Of course, every scuba diver will own a scuba watch because it
is critical for tracking the amount of time you spend underwater.
A scuba watch should be the first item of diving equipment that

you obtain when you become a scuba diver. The scuba watch that
you select doesn't necessarily have to be the top of the range,
but should meet the minimum requirements for scuba diving in
regards to the standards required.

If you're unsure, then consult with your Instructor during your
diving course to be sure you make an accurate purchase. It
should go without saying that buying a flimsy sport watch that
is water resistant to 30 meters will not last very long for the
scuba diver. Most scuba watches will be water proof to at least
200 meters.

You should also carefully select the type of wrist band for your
scuba watch. An elastomer band may look rugged, but doesn't
usually stand up to rigors of diving for more than a year. A
metallic band will serve better in the long run. Whatever type,
style or color of scuba watch you purchase, make your selection
carefully and it will last a lifetime.
