“Critter Whisperer” Takes Paw Prints, Makes Holiday Ornaments, Raises Money for Charities.

December 3, 2009

ALEXANDRIA, VA, Dec. 03, 2009 — Devoted pet owners can now create totally unique holiday ornaments and raise money for a couple of outstanding non-profit organizations all at the same time.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) December 3, 2009 -- Julie Jordan, proprietor and “Chief Critter Whisperer” for Newton’s Paw, has come up with a way to create an inexpensive, new and meaningful holiday gift that comes straight from the hearts, and the paws, of peoples’ pets.

Jordan first had the idea to make small ornaments from her own pets’ paw prints last Christmas. She wanted a fun way to include her new twin kitten’s first holiday on her Christmas tree, and so she made a cast of the paw prints in clay, and then turned them in to hanging ornaments.

“Animals add so much to our lives. To have something that uniquely belongs to and is from your pet, as well as being small and permanent, is a priceless gift. Plus, it has the added benefit of being fun and festive for the holidays.”

These ornaments are not limited to the paw prints of dogs and cats. According to Jordan, “All critters great and small are welcome! Really – we mean it – dogs, cats, hamsters, rabbits, llamas, humans, you name it. If there is a paw, a hoof, or a hand, we can create something fun!”

This one festive holiday idea became the basis for Newton’s Paw, the Alexandria, VA based company, which makes commemorative paw prints as well as organic pet care products.

Jordan wanted to take the opportunity presented by the holiday season to share these special ornaments with others, as well as to raise money for some important non-profit organizations.

As part of the Newton’s Paw company policy to give back to the community and make a positive difference, ten percent of all proceeds will go to two organizations; the Animal Welfare League and YoKid. Anyone who buys a paw print ornament will be able to choose which of these two great organizations receive their portion of the proceeds.

The Animal Welfare League’s mission is “To inspire compassion for all living things, to provide shelter to animals in need, and to promote adoptions, animal welfare, and responsible pet ownership in our community.” With Jordan’s love off all creatures, great and small, this is a natural partnership.

YoKid helps children from all socioeconomic backgrounds foster self-awareness through low- and no-cost instruction in yoga and meditation. With greater self-awareness, children can realize their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally. Jordan says, “This is an incredible organization. My nephew is this amazing little guy who has autism. YoKid has helped him in numerous ways and I am so grateful for the work they do!”

There are several stores in Alexandria and Washington, D.C. who have scheduled Newton’s Paw to make paw print ornaments for the holidays. Jordan is enthusiastic about the participation of all these stores. She states, “These are great stores, run by wonderful people, we are excited to be working with them.

The schedule of paw print ornaments is listed below, and new events are being added on a daily basis. Check the Newton’s Paw website, http://newtonspaw.com , for an up-to-the-minute list of paw print ornament events.
