CUSTOMER GETS CHEATED BY: Flightcentre.ca Travel Agency - Flights, Tours and Vacation Packages | Flight Centre Misleads Customer

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) February 22, 2011 -- Flight Centre Travel agents reveal their dark secrets !

Flight Centre 610 robson St, Vancouver, BC trick a customers into paying much more for a room and made false promises.

They Prey on those in grief. The agent smiled and seem like they are sharing the holiday joy with you, but from preying on those in grief to lying about cheap trips, travel agents can be just as cut-throat as the meanest in any industry that works on commission.

Flight Centre Canada advertsies great deals, but they are the biggest travel industry liars who make false and misleading
promises.
Signaturevacations.com did not return calls at press time.

In brief, Craig was told over the phone that some flight tickets he was looking to purchase had an indefinite return date. He didn’t think that sounded right, so he double-checked and the staff at Flight Centre confirmed it to be true. So he bought the tickets only to find out (too late) that they expired after a year. Now Flight Centre are denying that they told him the tickets were indefinite and now also accusing him of lying!

Hopefully people will read Craig’s story and make sure they have written confirmation of the details before paying for tickets. And perhaps if you read the story you may also consider not dealing with Flight Centre in the first place, as their customer service (full details in the original blog post) have been appalling!

I booked my tickets for my recent trip to London with Zuji and have nothing but praise for them.

While there is some truth in this, if you ever get scammed by a travel agent, I feel you probably deserve it.

I recently used a travel agent to book airfares. after i got a price and flight numbers, i jumped online and checked, sure enough i could get it cheaper so they matched it and gave me a gift voucher. Which i then got them to price match some other things and used the giftvoucher on. It wasn't a lot ~$200 on $2000 (ie 10%) but i got what i wanted and the travel agent did the hard stuff (ie finding flights at the cheap advertised fare).

Buying tours and hotels through travel agencies are a complete ripoff. I paid $16 for a cruise of Halong Bay in Vietnam, Another person paid $50 but booked through an expensive hotel in Hanoi and a third person paid $200 but booked from NZ. Given everybody probably does their own markup in price, they may not actually be ripping you off much, but always best to pay as close to the source as possible. ianw6705

I asked someone I know in the industry who on earth used travel agents these days ... and he said mostly the older wogs, who don't do the Internet at all. So it is tough on them.

I guess it depends on whether you classify Flight Centre as a travel agent. PoppyG

there must be still a lot of money to be made by travel agents - the one I get my advice from is as busy as anything and has opened a couple of new stores. ateday

Travel agents can provide a range of dollar-saving services that you could never source yourself, but I think they're the old days, or at best, found in only a few companies. I agree with fondo - places like Flight Centre (where one suspects our whistle-blowers might come from) are not agents, they are just retail lice, and with incredible pressure to up-sell to the punters.

Then the upsell started, travel insurance (already had at a much cheaper price), hotels which they only could find one that was costing about 10 times what I would pay .....

As soon as I started quoting booking codes and the like that stopped because they knew I had some idea. Its funny when travel agents start asking are you a travel agent ianw6705
