North Richland Hills, TX – June 18th, 2011: The Dallas Derby Devils, north Texas’ largest all female flat track roller derby league, continues to bring the only fast paced, high energy, contact sport on 8 wheels to the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex with its third game of the season. Featuring three exciting games of roller derby in one night at the NYTEX Sports Centre the Devils will be showing off the amazing endurance and skating skills of the Dallas Derby Devil’s nationally ranked all-star travel team, the Army of Darkness. This night will also feature your favorite home town teams, the Slaughterers, Suicide Shifters, Wrecking Crew and High Seas Hotties. The DDD will be welcoming guests all the way from Pueblo Colorado, the Pueblo Derby Devil Dollz. Don’t miss the amazing night of derby with the lovely ladies of the Dallas Derby Devils.

With an undefeated home season so far, the Army of Darkness will be hosting a bout against Pueblo’s best, the Pueblo Derby Devil Dollz. The Army has their boots laced and their guns loaded prepared to show the girls from Colorado how Dallas Does Derby! After tough losses, the Shifters and the Wrecking Crew are prepared for battle. Will the Wrecking Crew continue their fast-derby ways or will they revert to the warm embrace of stroller derby? Will the Shifters keep their gears in check and take the win with their speed and stamina or will they crash and burn? The High Seas Hotties are itching to continue their undefeated streak while the blood-soaked one-loss Slaughterers have something to prove. Last season, the Hotties steamrolled their pink-spangled counterparts on their way to the 2010 Championship and now the Slaughterers are expecting them. Have the Slaughterers sharpened up their skates in preparation for a fight to the death or will the Hotties use their own weapons against them?

The competition will take place at NYTEX Sports Centre (8851 Ice House Road, North Richland Hills). Doors open at 5:30pm and the action will start promptly at 6:00pm. The 2011 season opener hosted 1600 Dallas roller derby fans and has been sold out every game since! Get there early if you want a trackside seat but don’t forget to BYOC (bring your own chair) or enjoy the great views from the stadium style seats! This bout will sell-out, so get your tickets to this PG-13 event in advance for only $12 if purchased from your favorite derby girl at any preceding DDD public event, listed on www.derbydevils.com or $13 on their website through Pay-Pal. If available, tickets at the door will be $15. Kids 10 and under are free if you choose to bring them. Enjoy the ZuRomas $1.00 “derby draft” beers and $1.50 select cans from trackside. Tips help offset the cost of travel and equipment as the Army of Darkness spreads the word of how Dallas does Derby.

When not at practice, the Devils continue the business of promoting and growing the league across North Texas. Clearly, DDD discovered a formula for success and are becoming stronger every season, heading into their seventh year of existence. The league is the largest of its kind in the North Texas area boasting the largest roster of active skaters, over 125 at last count. Volunteers are welcome. Security, production help, track maintenance, and merchandisers are a just few of the open positions. The league’s sponsorship drive remains underway to defray the league’s operating costs. Sponsors get bragging rights about being part of the derby revival at a ground level as they help the Dallas Derby Devils support worthy causes; a portion of all proceeds are donated to local charities.

The Devils chose a new charity to give proceeds of each bout and this bout the organization to benefit from the generosity of the Dallas Derby Devils is the Texas Blue Bonnet Chapter of the Scleroderma Foundation. Scleroderma is a chronic and disabling connective tissue disease resulting from an overproduction of collagen. The word "scleroderma" means hardening of the skin which is one of the most visible manifestations of the disorder. Scleroderma can affect many areas of the body including the heart, lungs, kidneys and gastrointestinal system. There is no known cause and therefore no cure. Scleroderma occurs three to four times more often in women than in men.
