Cutting, choking, over-the- counter-drugs and Russian Roulette. Wingspan’s Conflict Corner has addressed topics such as bullying, HIV/Aids and teen violence. April’s topic, Dangerous Games/Harmful Behaviors will look at other types of self destructive behaviors young people engage in. A veteran police officer of thirty years, Chief Therese Homer, has seen her share of these behaviors and how they have evolved overtime. On Wednesday, April 7th at 6:00 PM, she will share some of the latest trends in youth behaviors, how it affects safety and positives and negatives of public response. Miriam Arvesu, founder of Love, Gratitude and Peace will share how her family’s transitions affected her son and resulted in a dangerously emotional path. The outcome is a mission to help other parents and educators see the warning signs of youth in trouble and how to find their own healing process as they recover.
Psychotherapists and other specialists this month will highlight deviant behaviors, addiction and depression, asking the question,”Does your child show signs of these?” and if so, “Do you know what to do?” Conflict Corner will provide resources via our guests, websites and open dialogues for youth, parents and their support systems throughout the month of April.
