David Bittle is a retired USCG chief petty officer with a valuable blend of leadership skills. He has more than 24 years of leadership and management experience in the U.S. Coast Guard. His expertise lies in security and environmental safety/response areas such as security operations, emergency response, incident management, investigations, operations security, as well as site security monitoring. He is extensively experienced in supervising civilian, military and government agency personnel in emergency response, and environmental disasters. He is a trained professional in hazardous materials/oil spill incident response with a proven ability to assess situations, analyze multiple courses of action and execute prudent decisions.
During his time with USCG, David Bittle utilized his flair of leadership skills such as first response, situation assessment, team allocation and supervision, process management, investigation and security countermeasures to take effective decisions. He has been consistently promoted due to exemplary performance. His responsibilities as Chief of Security were to supervise and manage the overall USCG security program. He developed and directed security strategy, plans and procedures; planned and tested emergency response plans and operations recovery tactics; supervised, trained and qualified both government and contracted civilian personnel and planned advanced security risk assessment. He also conducted investigations/inspections related to alleged or security violations; administrated effective physical and personal security and led antiterrorism and counterterrorism measures.
David M. Bittle is also a trained 40 hour hazardous waste operations and emergency response (HAZWOPER) instructor, a small arms instructor, and has served as ordnance safety inspector for high explosive ammunition transfers. He holds MA Class A Large Capacity License to Carry Firearms (no restrictions) and U.S. Merchant Mariner’s 100 Ton Captain’s License with Towing Endorsement. In his successful career, he has received various awards and medals for his dedication to serving his country. He received The Secretary’s Outstanding Unit Award for outstanding performance in New York Harbor following the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center from September 11, 2001 through October 22, 2001. Presently, David Bittle is studying at American Military University and is planning to graduate in Homeland Security by July, 2012. Fishing and weight lifting are some of his hobbies.
