David Bittle is an extensively experienced professional in supervising civilian, military and government agency personnel in emergency response, operation security and environmental disasters. He has worked for the United States Coast Guard and retired after 24 years of active duty. As Chief of Security at the USCG base in Boston from 2006 to his retirement in September 2011, his job responsibilities were to supervise and manage the overall USCG Security Program. He developed and directed security strategy, plans and procedures; planned and tested emergency response plans and operations recovery tactics and supervised, trained and qualified both government and contracted civilian personnel. He was also tasked with the responsibility of planning advanced security risk assessment and conducting investigations related to security violations.

A senior-level specialist, David Bittle has had a successful career with United States Coast Guard and he received various awards and recognitions for his service. He utilized his valuable blend of leadership skills such as first response, investigations, team allocation and supervision, situation assessment, process management, inspections and security countermeasures. While working with the US Coast Guard, he took on important duties that were most appropriate for the situation. He showed complete dedication towards his job responsibilities and executed prudent responsibilities. He was consistently promoted for his exemplary performance. David Bittle is also a small arms instructor and has served as ordnance safety inspector for high explosive transfers. He has Massachusetts Class “A” Large Capacity License to carry firearms (no restrictions). In addition to this, he has a U. S. Merchant Mariner’s 100 Ton Captain’s License with Towing Endorsement and a MA CDL Class “A” drivers license.

David Bittle was awarded with The Secretary’s Outstanding Unit Award for outstanding performance in New York Harbor following the terrorist attacks from September 11, 2001 through October 22, 2001 on the World Trade Center. As part of the U. S. Coast Guard’s Atlantic Strike Team, he was also awarded the U. S. Coast Guard Achievement medal for saving the life of an injured person in the hot zone of the anthrax attacks in Washington, DC. He has also worked in areas of security operations, search and rescue, emergency response, incident management and threat management. His areas of specializations included oil spill, hazardous material, and WMD response. He is a trained professional in hazardous materials/oil spill incident response with a proven ability to assess situations, analyze multiple courses of action and execute prudent decisions.
