United States of America -- Free-Press-Release.com-- Feb 4, 2010 -- Almost three-quarters of Americans believe that the Founding Fathers intended to create a “Christian Nation.” So when President Obama said that we are not a Christian nation, they got upset, not realizing that neither the Constitution nor Bill of Rights mentions God, let alone, Jesus.
The only mention of God appears in the Declaration of Independence as “Nature’s God.”
Deists talk about Nature’s God. In fact, many of the Founding Fathers were Deists.
Despite the tremendous influence their Deistic beliefs had on the founding of the nation, Deism has been all but forgotten in mainstream America. With ongoing culture wars involving the separation of church and state and an increasing number of Americans choosing not to be affiliated with any religion, Deism deserves a second look. Deism is based on reason, not religion.
Two experts on Deism will be talking about this forgotten faith this week on GodDiscussion.com’s Internet radio show. Featured guests include the Deputy Director of the World Union of Deists and John Armstrong, author of "God vs. The Bible" and one of three co-organizers of the Louisville Atheists and Freethinkers organization.
