(Free-Press-Release.com) November 25, 2009 -- Rockville, MD. – U.S. advertising executive and playwright Denis Lipman and his humorous travel memoir, A Yank Back to England: The Prodigal Tourist Returns (ISBN 978-1-934848-24-1), will be featured on BBC World News America on Thursday, November 26, 2009, at 7 and 10 p.m. A nightly hour-long news program hosted by Matt Frei, BBC World News America airs on BBC America, BBC World, and the BBC News Channel.

Part travel guide, part memoir, A Yank Back to England provides a wry and engaging glimpse of English culture from an expatriated Brit who thought he’d left it all behind. Denis Lipman fled London’s East End for Washington, D.C. more than twenty years ago, but made an annual pilgrimage year after year to visit aging parents, a pair of cantankerous, real-life Cockneys. He endured the visits as best he could, until he met his American wife. Not content with a grin-and-bear-it attitude, she declared that since each year’s trip to England was inevitable, it was to be enjoyed. Against his will, Lipman became a tourist in his homeland and came to discover it was not so bad after all. After seeing the country of his birth through new eyes, the author decided that England is certainly better than he remembered.

“I was really surprised there were so many fascinating places to find so close to my old home, places I never knew existed,” said Lipman. “I actually found myself looking forward to the next excursion––well, at least sometimes!”

Renowned British actor Michael York, author of Are My Blinkers Showing?, describes A Yank Back to England as a “perceptive, engaging, and informative take on contemporary England as seen through the eyes of a fellow expatriate who writes with humor and affection.” York adds that “the cast of characters has an almost Dickensian vivacity.”

Denis Lipman is a seasoned creative and commercial writer with experience in advertising and theater. He is a partner in The Creative Shop, an advertising and promotion firm in the Washington, DC area with clients in industries from education to software. He served as senior writer with a number of D.C. advertising agencies and is a prize-winning playwright, with credits in Great Britain and the United States. Lipman resides in the Washington, D.C. area with his wife and daughter.
