4th Annual Toy Drive from November 18- December 22

New York, NY, November 18, 2011 - Celebrity barber Dennis "Denny Moe" Mitchell will host his 4th Annual Toy Drive. Denny Moe’s Superstar Barbershop in partnership with Grand Life Daily aim to collect a minimum of 300 unwrapped toys. All toys collected will benefit the children of Harlem Dowling West Side Center for Children and Family Services, a not-for-profit child welfare agency, whose mission is to serve and assist children and their families in crisis and distress. Donations will be accepted beginning November 18th until December 22nd, 2011 and can be dropped off at Denny Moe’s Superstar Barbershop located at 2496 Frederick Douglass Blvd, New York, NY 10003. Gifts will be distributed on Christmas Day at Denny Moe’s Superstar Barbershop.
On Saturday, December 3, 2011 from 12pm -7pm, a tree trimming event sponsored by Carl Banks former NFL linebacker and Denny Moe’s Super Star Barbershop in partnership with Grand Life Daily will be held at Denny Moe’s Superstar Barbershop in which the children from Harlem Dowling - West Side Center will participate in the decorating of the tree. There will be activities throughout the day including arts and crafts such as the design and creation of ornaments and creating festive picture frames and games. These children will be in receipt of these generous toy donations on Christmas day at Denny Moe’s Superstar Barbershop.
Mitchell has held a number of toy drives, in which Harlem Hospital and many others have benefited from his generosity. The collaboration between Denny Moe’s Celebrity Barbershop, two - time Super Bowl champion, Carl Banks and Grand Life Daily speaks to the positive influence each has on a number of communities from a social perspective within the field of sports, entertainment, grooming and fashion.
About Dennis "Denny Moe" Mitchell- Mitchell has owned and operated Denny Moe’s Superstar Barbershop in Harlem since January 2005. Since opening his doors, he has given back to the community by hosting several events aimed to promote and educate the Harlem community. He often hosts fashion shows, poetry nights, Spoken Word and Jazz Showcases, in addition to distributing school supplies to school-aged children in the community. He orchestrates a very successful toy drive, in which all proceeds are donated to a local homeless shelter. Additionally, in 2005 Dennis established a scholarship fund that benefits a deserving college-bound inner-city youth. The scholarship includes a fully equipped laptop and a monetary donation.
About Carl Banks - Carl E. Banks was a football linebacker in the NFL from 1984 to 1995, playing for the New York Giants, Washington Redskins and the Cleveland Browns. He made the Pro Bowl in 1987, and was a member of the NFL's 1980's All-Decade Team. Banks was a member of the Giants teams that won Super Bowls XXI and XXV. Currently, Banks is the President of Sports Licensing at G-III Apparel Group which is the parent company of G-III Sports by Carl Banks and G-III 4Her by Carl Banks clothing lines. Banks can be heard on Sirius NFL Radio, WFAN and is also an analyst for the radio broadcasts of the New York Giants.
