Desreta Jackson launches BlackSilk Hair Care

Who can forget Desreta Jackson spirited role of young Celie Harris, in the 11 Oscar Nominated Academy Award movie “The Color Purple?” However, after The Color Purple’s twenty-five year reunion, held on the Oprah Winfrey show last November, Jackson appeared in a number of hit movies, dabbled in producing and continues to perform on stage. As a matter of fact, Desreta Jackson was recently honored, in New York City, at the 7th Annual Prestige Awards, a tribute for her contribution to American film.

The 2011 Prestige Award winner, Desreta Jackson, is an actress, entrepreneur, innovator and now the creator of the “First Luxury, African American Hair Care Products, called BlackSilk.” Prior to this first luxury hair, health/ beauty care invention, which is created for African American women of all ages, as well as for every texture of black hair, Jackson stayed in the lime light of Hollywood. That’s right, Hollywood. Desreta Jackson co-starred alongside Danny Glover, Oprah Winfrey and Margaret Avery in Steven Spielberg’s 11 Oscar Nominated movie “The Color Purple,” as well as played a young teenager, inside the hit movie, “Sister Act." In addition, Desreta Jackson took on a major role in “The Mighty Pawns," just to name a few.
