Detroit Gun Works: Gun Manufacturers of AR15 Lowers

Detroit, Michigan, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) October 20, 2011 -- We often get asked why we recently chose to establish Detroit Gun Works, dedicate portions of our plant to gun manufacturing, and focus on AR-15 Lowers. The answer is multi-faceted, but extremely simple. Firstly, gun people appreciate manufacturers. Not only do they appreciate manufacturing, but they really appreciate good manufacturers. Gun connoisseurs want to know where their products came from, and they appreciate quality craftsmanship. Secondly, it's difficult. We love the challenge. People are really proud of their guns. They want them made right, and they want them to work.

I love manufacturing. My favorite type is machining. My brother and I have been pulled many different ways in our development as we have built our company, but every day I take a final walk around the plant, load up our automation, and before I walk out the door, I watch those machines make chips. Our sales, marketing, and financial staff laugh at me, because before I check my e-mail I have surveyed the plant in the morning and I know the state of our machines. Cutting metal is work to me.

So we cut metal day in and day out. Although we are forced every month to look at the money, our drive is based around how well we can make our gun parts. Every day is spent tweaking solid models, fixtures, cutter paths, tooling, etc. In addition to the focus on the individual components, like the AR-15 lower receiver, the AR15 upper receiver, the 308 lower receiver, and the 308 upper receiver, and their machinability, we also focus on our systems. This is why we are dedicated to having the industries shortest lead times. Our business has always been built around delivery, and our gun components are no different than other parts of our business.

In our infancy we are working to get product on the shelf, but we can guarantee as we get going we will be able to fill the largest and smallest orders faster and more effectively than any of the other gun manufacturers in the industry. Our systems are modular, and capable. In this way we can utilize our equipment to the fullest, and keep changeover time very low.

Right now we are being asked every day to add other components of the AR15 and .308 to our product line. We have a number of things in the works on these two platforms, as well as establishing another platform. It is difficult and fun to have such demand, but also important that we don't let any of our quality suffer through the process.

We are looking to start releasing more products further into the fall. As we continue to focus this brand it is ever more closer to our goal of using our machines to not just make chips but be one of the premier gun manufacturers in the world.
