FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Detroit,
Michigan,
United States of America
(Free-Press-Release.com) August 17, 2011 --
We knew we had a lot to get to this week…and, well, even more has come up and so it’s a good thing we waited.
Detroitnet.org Event Tomorrow Night, We Need Your Votes, Free Training Class, More Events, Jobs and Updates for 8/17/2011
Welcome visit Our WebSite:
http://www.Detroitnet.org We’ve got our event tomorrow night out at Penny Black in Rochester. We’ve got our next Pink Slip Party next month in September. We’re booked for October and November. We’ve got another event in November in Flint. We’re putting together a brew pub / distillery tour as our next “fun, one-off” event. We’ve been nominated as a Most Valuable Blogger for 2011 by CBS Detroit. GogoTraining.com offered our members a 10% discount on any of their online training courses, and then, to help get the word out, they offered up a free training class so that one of our members could take it and then report back on their experience. Yup, free.
Wait, did I say Most Valuable Blogger? Why yes, yes I did…but you know the rules, let’s talk about our event first…
Thursday. That’s tomorrow. 5:01pm start time. Completely free to attend. No cover charges, no door fees, just show up and have a good time at the Penny Black in Rochester. You can find details out on our site here http://tinyurl.com/detnetaug18 or out on Linkedin.com at http://events.linkedin.com/Detroitnet-org-August-Social-Networking/pub/707335. Look forward to seeing you there, making connections and catching up with old ones in the IT industry here in the metro Detroit area.
Next Pink Slip Party? Also booked. Thursday, September 15th. Post Bar. Novi.
October? Got you covered. Thursday, October 20th. Dragonmead Brewery. Warren.
November? You can have a double dose of us if you want to. Thursday, November 9th in Flint with Kettering University and TechWorks and then Thursday, November 17th at the BlackFinn in Royal Oak.
Want something different? How about the Great Detroitnet.org Party Bus Tour of 2011? Breweries. A distillery. It may well be the greatest networking event on wheels. Click here http://www.detroitnet.org/index.php/2204/the-great-detroitnet-org-party-bus-tour-of-2011/ to check that out and vote to get your feedback heard while we’re still pondering dates, locations and schedules.
…and speaking of voting, yep, we got nominated (thank you!) as a Most Valuable Blog in metro Detroit in a contest being run by CBS Detroit.
So, now we’d like you to help us win. We’re not above asking.
Yeah…you know you’ve got a smartphone, a work computer, at least one home computer, maybe even a server or two (or more) you can hook into and fire up a browser to click this little link right here http://detroit.blogger.cbslocal.com/most-valuable-blogger/vote/local/ and vote for Detroitnet.org. You can vote once per day, every day, from now through September 9th.
Do it.
Please?
We suck at the “It’s an honor just to be nominated” speech. We’ll never be able to pull it off with a straight face. We’re just not that good at hiding our self-loathing when things don’t turn out right. Nobody wants that.
So, again, that link is http://detroit.blogger.cbslocal.com/most-valuable-blogger/vote/local/ and you’re voting for Detroitnet.org. Hell, we’ll even use the whopping $50 Amazon.com gift certificate to buy something completely dorkariffic that we’ll proudly display as a trophy if we win. There are even plots afoot to see who can get who the most drunk and end up with a tattoo of the MVB logo over there on the right.
Now, who doesn’t want to see that?
Now, full disclosure – we’re not saying it’s going to be one of the three of us that winds up with the tattoo…we just have a specific victim in mind already.
One last time? Sure, here it is one last time: http://detroit.blogger.cbslocal.com/most-valuable-blogger/vote/local/. Every day until September 9th. We’d do it for you.
Now, here’s something for you: free training. GogoTraining.com offered up a 10% discount to our members over here http://www.detroitnet.org/index.php/2157/an-offer-from-gogo-training/, and then came back and offered up a free training class for one of our members so that someone can get some exposure to them and come back and report their experiences to the group. So, go ahead and click over here http://www.detroitnet.org/index.php/2187/anybody-want-free-training/ to check it out and get a free training class.
Okay, so that’s our event schedule covered, the training discount discussed, the free training class mentioned, a shameless plea for votes completed, a quick mention of our notes and jobs update from last week that has a fun little mini-Don’t Be That Guy in it over here http://www.detroitnet.org/index.php/2184/updates-august-10-2011/ noted, input on the brewery tour solicited, …doing good so far.
If you’re hanging around and looking for something to do tonight, and happen to live, work or play in the Microsoft world, you might want to check out MI-GANG’s event taking place over at the Microsoft offices in Southfield. You can check out the details here: http://events.linkedin.com/Great-Lakes-Area-NET-Users-Group-Meeting/pub/595811 They’re good folks.
I guess that brings us to our LinkedIn group, sitting over at http://www.linkedin.com/groups/Detroitnetorg-Detroit-Networking-Events-IT-91763 where we’ve got some pretty cool discussions going on, as well as quite a few jobs if you’re in the market or even just casually looking.
What kind of discussions? Thoughts on working remotely from an employer and employee point of view. Google+. What you’re thinking about companies moving downtown. Common job search mistakes. All sorts of useful information with a decent variety of viewpoints, so dive on in http://www.linkedin.com/groups/Detroitnetorg-Detroit-Networking-Events-IT-91763
