Welcome visit Our WebSite:
http://www.detroitnet.org Anyone connected to the Information Technology industry is welcome to attend Detroitnet.org events, whether they’re job seekers, recruiters, HR, or just looking to extend and/or build their professional network. These events are completely free of charge to attend, and results from prior gatherings have been nothing short of outstanding – dozens of solid leads and business connections made. Hundreds of out of work Detroitnet.org members receiving free training and discounted training opportunities. Most importantly – over two hundred people have gotten new jobs as a direct result of these events since the first took place in May of 2009.
Job seekers will have the ability to network with dozens of the top IT recruiters and headhunters in the Metro Detroit area who will be wearing badges and easily identifiable. Recruiters and Hiring Managers will have the ability to talk with candidates running the gamut of the IT field – developers, architects, project and program managers, analysts, help desk personnel and more. As with all Detroitnet.org events, this Pink Slip Party is not limited to just Detroitnet.org members, and is completely free to attend for job seekers, recruiters, and anyone else that wants to participate.
Detroitnet.org founder Bob Waltenspiel adds, “What started as a networking group designed to find like-minded people in the IT industry has truly evolved now into an organization that helps make things happen in the metro Detroit area. To have people walk up to me at past networking events thanking us because it had really impacted their lives by helping them find a new job, or getting free training…well, that’s seriously mind-blowing and gratifying. Knowing that we’ve done it without charging anyone a dime to attend our events, or taking any kickbacks or sponsorships…that’s just self-satisfying to know – and show- that it can be done. You can help people without selling out or putting your hand in their pocket.”
Co-Founder Dave Phillips adds, "We’re excited about the growth that the group has experienced over the past year, as well as the new opportunities that adding new people to the mix can bring. However, none of that detracts from our core focus – bringing the IT community in and around metro Detroit together to help make things happen. You can either be 1 of 5,000 resumes showing up in a random inbox responding to a job posting, or you can be the face that someone thinks of when they’re looking to fill a job that might not even be posted yet. That’s what Detroitnet.org is for – giving you the opportunity to be a face, not a file.”
The resident Voice of Reason Jeff Mackey adds, “Whether you’re a recruiter or a job seeker, or just someone looking to build their professional network what you’re looking for is wearing a nametag at one of our events. Hopefully you've realized by now that your network is the most important tool in your career. If not, stop in and let us...no, let our group tell you why that's true."
Attendees are being asked to pre-register by sending an email to detroitnet@gmail.com with your resume as an attachment in order to facilitate advance communication with recruiters. Recruiters and hiring managers are asked to contact the group also at detroitnet@gmail.com in advance of the event so that badges can be ready and waiting when they arrive. The event will take place at the Post Bar in Novi, MI, and guests are asked to sign in upon arrival. To make sure the point is clear – there are no charges whatsoever for anyone that wishes to attend this event in any capacity. The only requirement is that you work, or want to work, in and around the IT industry in metro Detroit.
